The Hungry Hobo is a chain of sandwich shops that was created in 1973 when Jim Gende, Ray Pearson, Joe Gende, and Tom Spero converted 3 Little King franchise locations (Moline, Main Street & Rock Island) into Hungry Hobo company stores.
Since then, the following current
stores were opened: Old Town (1975), East Moline (1977),
Bettendorf (1978), Iowa City (1980), Galesburg (1981),
Milan (1984), Browning Field (1987), Kennedy Square
(1989), Elmore (2003), West Locust (2004), John Deere
Road (2007), and 53rd Street (2009).
While we recently celebrated our 35th anniversary, the past few years have been spent refurbishing or relocating existing stores, and opening new ones in an attempt to create a more consistent experience for our customers and set the stage for future growth throughout Western Illinois and Eastern Iowa.
Our concept specializes in sliced
and grilled-to-order sandwiches, baked potatoes with
a variety of toppings, chef-prepared soups, shredded-lettuce
salads, and desserts from The Hobo Bakery. We also
deliver Box Lunches and a variety of party items.
We currently have 11 Quad-City locations and 2 others
in Illinois and Iowa.
